The Packaging Materials Planner ensures optimal packaging materials requirement planning for VQA and Non-VQA (APL & GVI) products across multiple regions. This role supports the Master Production Schedule (MPS) by balancing demand and supply, minimizing shortages, reducing waste, and aligning with supply chain KPIs. The incumbent will leverage data analytics and digital tools to enhance planning accuracy and contribute to our sustainability initiatives.
This teammate will be responsible for:
- Directly responsible for creating a valid materials requirement plan for 3 production regions and up to 12 production lines, resolving shortages proactively.
- Analyzes demand-supply dynamics at regional levels, identifies risks, and communicates solutions to stakeholders.
- Responsible for releasing purchase requisitions from Oracle ASCP, ensuring timely procurement aligned with supplier lead times.
- Analyzes MRP Material Supply Exception Reports, troubleshoots issues, and coordinates with suppliers and internal teams for resolution.
- Analyzes the Master Production Schedule (MPS) Exception Report for packaging constraints and identifies and recommends solutions in collaboration with relevant team members.
- Analyzes Detailed Capacity plans and provides packaging material supply/demand positions for monthly DCP (Detailed Capacity Planning) meetings and higher-level Capacity meetings.
- Recommends tactical planning solutions in daily/weekly production scheduling meetings to assist plant production scheduler and communicates package change requirements or packaging constraints to the team.
- Recommends Oracle ASCP parameter adjustments for packaging components to ensure inventories are optimized and service levels are maintained.
- Assesses the impact of MPS inventory builds on packaging material availability and takes necessary actions to accommodate builds to support grape harvests and plant shutdowns.
- Analyzes and coordinates packaging transfers between regions.
- Expedites packaging to support new product launches, package changes and MPS changes while maintaining below-target expedite costs.
- Collaborates with Marketing, Operations, and Quality teams through participation in monthly New Product Development meetings and cross-functional projects to ensure packaging requirements align with product innovation and quality standards.
- Responsible for developing packaging material depletion plans for approved projects to determine potential item obsolescence, conversion, or cutover dates and associated write down costs.
- Participates in resolution of non-conformance issues and recall procedures.
- Conducts regular inventory and process audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provides cross-functional training within the team to promote knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Ensures work continuity by managing team tasks and responsibilities when team members are on vacation or unavailable.
- Follows safe work procedures and practices, reporting hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
The knowledge, skills and experience this teammate will bring:
- Completion of /or working towards certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Supply Chain & Logistics Management
- Thorough knowledge of principles and theories of material requirements planning and master production scheduling
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in materials planning, inventory management, or supply chain logistics within a manufacturing environment, with proven expertise in ERP systems such as Oracle EBS/ASCP and a strong understanding of lean inventory principles.
- Post-secondary education in business/accounting or mathematics/statistics
- Experience in a manufacturing process environment preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level including macros and pivot tables), Power BI, Power Query, and other data visualization tools to analyze trends, identify anomalies, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Proven analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, manage multiple priorities effectively, and proactively resolve issues in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to forge strong relationships with employees in other departments
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, showing initiative and sound judgement
Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 annually, plus annual bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits
This hybrid role offers a combination of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility.
