Position Summary
The successful candidate will join the Technology team as a Systems Administrator and help with the network administration and maintenance of our mission critical software and computer systems. This also involves participating to establish methods and protocols for improving Paragon’s systems.
This position reports to the Manager, Technology. Local candidates only. No agencies please.

Responsibilities

The System Administrator will:
  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot and support complex network solutions (switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, reverse proxies, VPN, remote access, VOIP, wireless, printers etc.)
  • Maintain and support our in-house web and database servers, and workstations to minimize downtime
  • Develop, configure, maintain, and administer systems used to build and release enterprise software; including versioning, tracking release milestones, backup, archiving and user rights management
  • Develop and maintain a checklist and automated release strategy with the Software Development Team
  • Collaborate and follow up effectively with stakeholders; including obtaining approval for release, developing a build system with developers, and coordinating product launch with project managers
  • Follow up with the Manager, Technology, regarding timelines and network administration issues
  • Keep track electronically of all IT equipment and purchases
  • Identify areas of improvement in network administration, and implement these improvements once approved
  • Present technical presentations in network administration, or technology related to the testing industry
  • Perform technical support as required
Requirements
  • Technical:
o Good technical knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 7/10, 2008/2012 Server) and Linux variants
o Good technical knowledge of network hardware, protocols and standards, including RAID, Active Directory/LDAP, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL certificates
o Good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft IIS
o Good knowledge of VMWare
o Good knowledge of SVN, Git, Ansible, Jenkins and Teamcity
o Good knowledge of Python, PowerShell, and/or other scripting languages
  • Academic:
o Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution
o Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline would be a significant advantage
o CCNA/CCNP/MCTS/VCP certifications preferred
  • Experience and abilities:
o Minimum of two years of experience working in positions of network or systems administration
o Experience working alongside software professionals in troubleshooting technical issues
o Experience working with non-technical staff regarding business workflows and requirements in a collaborative manner
o Experience writing detailed technical requirements, business workflow documents, software testing documents, and other technical articles and blogs.
o Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail
o Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
o Ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences as required
  • Other requirements:
o All applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, or have a current permit to work in Canada.
