Position Summary
Diamonds Medical Clinic is a newly modernized, technology-driven primary care clinic opening in early 2026. We are seeking an experienced General Manager – Clinic Operations to provide strategic, operational, and organizational leadership across all areas of clinic performance.
Reporting to the Clinic Owners and Physician Leadership, this role serves as the operational hub of the organization, ensuring the clinic runs efficiently and independently with minimal day-to-day oversight. The General Manager will oversee clinical operations, human resources, financial management, physician engagement, stakeholder relations, regulatory compliance, business development, and continuous quality improvement.
This role requires an individual who is comfortable and effective interacting with multiple physicians, specialists, staff, contractors, vendors, the landlord, and other key stakeholders, while representing the clinic professionally and ensuring day-to-day operations keep moving smoothly without disruption.
As a startup healthcare organization, the successful candidate will play a foundational leadership role in building systems, structures, and workflows from the ground up. They will support the growth and success of both Diamonds Medical Clinic (DMC) and Diamonds Wellness Centre (DWC), with a strong emphasis on physician recruitment and engagement, marketing and community outreach, and long-term organizational development.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations & Administration
- Provide full operational leadership for day-to-day clinic management, ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centred care delivery
- Oversee patient flow, scheduling, staffing, service delivery, and clinical-administrative coordination
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, workflows, and performance standards
- Coordinate physician, nursing, allied health, administrative, and visiting specialist schedules
- Ensure compliance with Alberta healthcare legislation, privacy requirements, Occupational Health & Safety, infection control, and accreditation standards
- Identify and resolve operational challenges to ensure independent clinic functionality with minimal oversight
Human Resources & Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop multidisciplinary clinical and administrative teams
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, performance management, engagement, and retention strategies
- Support physician recruitment and engagement, ensuring strong long-term integration into the clinic
- Build a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and service excellence
- Drive leadership development and succession planning
Financial & Business Operations
- Develop and manage operational budgets and financial performance
- Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, and clinic billing processes
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs and implement efficiency and growth strategies
- Support financial reporting, forecasting, and resource optimization
Stakeholder, Vendor & Business Development
- Act as the central operational liaison interacting with physicians, specialists, staff, contractors, vendors, landlords, regulators, and community partners
- Ensure smooth coordination between all stakeholders while maintaining professional representation of the clinic
- Lead procurement, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and facilities management
- Support marketing, community outreach, physician recruitment, and business development initiatives to support the growth of both DMC and DWC
- Represent the clinic in professional, healthcare, and community settings
Technology & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee implementation and optimization of Accuro EMR and clinic management systems
- Manage HRIS platforms (e.g., BambooHR or equivalent), scheduling systems, and operational technologies
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, accreditation readiness, and workflow optimization
- Drive innovation and technology-enabled operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Health Leadership, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and progressive healthcare leadership experience will be considered
- Professional certification in healthcare management, HR, or project management is an asset
Experience
- 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 8 years in a senior healthcare management role
- Proven experience leading operations in a medical clinic, primary care network, or multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- Strong background in healthcare operations, HR, finance, compliance, physician relations, and quality improvement
- Demonstrated success in physician engagement, recruitment, and retention
- Experience in marketing, community outreach, and healthcare business development are considered a strong asset Demonstrated healthcare leadership experience with strong operational oversight responsibilities
- Sound operational judgment with the ability to run a complex clinical environment with minimal oversight
- Strong relationship management skills and ability to engage effectively with physicians, staff, and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments independently and effectively
