What You’ll Do
The Production Technician is responsible for running equipment on our canning and packaging lines, assisting with material handling, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the production area. This is a hands-on role that involves working with machines, packaging systems, and supporting daily production activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and oversee equipment across the canning and packaging line (including the depalletizer, filler, cartoner, packer, and palletizer). Balance active machine operation with a high-level view of overall line flow.
- Actively monitor equipment performance. Investigate mechanical alerts, clear line jams, and diagnose system irregularities to minimize downtime.
- Efficiently execute full line changeovers between different products, can sizes, and packaging formats.
- Maintain a clean and organized production area following standard cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Complete cleaning and sanitization of equipment, tanks, and production floor
- Conduct routine quality checks, including seal integrity, fill volumes, and date code legibility
- Palletize product and assist with staging raw materials
- Document and immediately report complex mechanical faults or product quality deviations to the Maintenance and Leadership teams.
- Stage raw packaging materials to keep the line fed. Manually lift and move full cases of product when needed during changeovers, line disruptions, or automated faults.
- Follow company policies, health and safety, and food safety procedures at all times
- Other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred
- Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn and operate production equipment
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to product quality
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Forklift certification is an asset
What to Expect
- Shift Pattern: Rotating 12-hour continental shift (days and nights), including weekends and overtime based on production needs.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift items up to 25 kg; standing, walking, bending, and twisting for long periods.
- Work Environment: Fast-paced with heavy machinery and loud noise levels.
