At SMS Equipment our Inventory Supervisors manage all aspects of inventory control and purchasing functions within the region. The incumbent would be responsible for coaching and mentoring their direct reports, annual inventory counts and collaborating with SMS Equipment personnel and vendors to purchase and control inventory in a cost-effective manner. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their leadership abilities, knowledge and positivity to our growing team located in Acheson, AB.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Inventory Control: Ensures Inventory Analysts are monitoring stock levels and making decisions on when to replenish. Leads and participates in inventory optimization initiatives and projects, such as ROIC, consignment inventories, etc. Monitors KPI within the region to ensure that trends are managed related to total parts inventory value, inventory turns, non-turning inventory, etc.
Supervisory: Provide coaching and mentoring through training and updates on current and new products. Encourage continuous improvement within the department by engaging teams and understanding customer requirements.
Inventory Counts: Complete annual inventory counts and reconciliation within the region. This will include occasional travel to remote branched and/or customer sites. Help coordinate annual vendor returns and provide guidance and direction on the customer return policy.
For this position, it is preferred that the successful candidate will have a Supply Chain Management professional designation. A combination of experience and formal education in Supply Chain Management or Business will also be considered. Additional qualifications include previous experience with:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in high inventory control in a warehouse environment.
Effective leadership skills.
Customer focused with a proven sense of urgency.
Ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Parts Journeyperson Certification or knowledge of heavy duty equipment would be an asset.
