We currently have an opening for the following position.
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to perform high-quality MIG welding, fabrication, and repair on steel beams for outdoor canopies. The position also involves supporting daily operations by assisting with general workshop duties.
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality MIG welding on structural steel components
- Weld in flat and horizontal positions
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Prepare metal surfaces by removing rust, scale, and slag using grinders
- Inspect and finish welds to meet quality standards
- Adhere strictly to shop safety guidelines and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Utilize a wide variety of manual hand tools and power equipment safely and effectively
- Complete additional tasks and duties as directed by the department Lead
Qualifications:
- CWB Certified Welder preferred
- Proficient in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in flat and horizontal positions required
- MIG Welding (GMAW - Gas Metal Arc Welding) considered an asset
- Proficient in Oxy-Fuel cutting and welding procedures.
- Experience in operating Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC) systems safely and precisely
- Minimum 1-2 years of MIG welding experience in a Shop environment
- Familiarity with safely operating various hand and power tools
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience welding structural steel
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work at heights when required
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift, up to 50 lbs (23 kg) frequently
