Job Description
The Student placement coordinator reports to the Director of Professional Practice and is responsible for developing and implementing the student placement coordination process at Mackenzie Health. The Student Placement Coordinator supports the Professional Practice department in planning & implementing other professional practice and education events as needed. While the Student Placement Coordinator support individuals, they share responsibility for supporting the collective needs of the team, support the service atmosphere and professionalism that exemplifies Mackenzie Health’s values and guiding principles.

  • Coordinates placement of all students from Educational Institutions that hold Affiliation Agreements with Mackenzie Health
  • Conducts and coordinates the new student orientation & assists with obtaining electronic access as needed
  • Coordinates the process of Affiliation agreements with all Educational Institutes
  • Collaboratively updates materials that are needed by the department, students & onsite faculty
  • Ensures the efficient day-to-day functioning of students within the organization by providing high quality coordination support to the Organization.
  • Drafts and proof reads correspondence including reports, letters, responses, memorandums and prepares presentation material while ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of presentation formats, etc. using advanced skills in relevant software applications.
  • Undertakes and ensures co-ordination and support of special projects and committees as assigned.
  • Projects a professional and customer focused service in keeping with Mackenzie Health’s values as a progressive customer-focused organization.
  • Facilitates and organizes communication with external clients
  • Serves as a liaison amongst students, faculty, and staff relative to their placement at Mackenzie Health
  • Performs other responsibilities consistent with the job classification, as required
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma required
  • 3-5 years working in the health care sector as a student placement coordinator preferred
  • 3-5 years working with student coordination within an Educational Institution with a proven understanding of clinical education preferred
  • Proven organizational, leadership, and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Recent healthcare/hospital experience, preferred
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and manage own workflow to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with an ability to effectively manage a complexity of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities and possess tact and diplomacy in dealing with inquiries and requests for information
  • Demonstrates initiative, high degree of accuracy and ability to handle a complexity of tasks simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
  • Polished, professional interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively in a team environment and with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Professional and customer service oriented with an ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organization
  • Self-directed, detail oriented, dependable and resourceful
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven attendance record
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job
