The partnership markets, manufactures and supports the A220 Family worldwide.

As part of the Materials and Processes engineering team you will be responsible to perform a diversified range of engineering tasks related to the A220 aircraft program.

Tasks and responsibilities

In your role, you will:
Provide primary technical expertise and leadership in resolving Design, Certification, and Compliance issues interacting with the Suppliers, Operations, Quality, Service Engineering, Customer Support and Supply Chain departments
As part of an integrated product development team IPDT you will be responsible to ensure that designs meet all material and processes requirements
Perform technical reviews and approval of Engineering Drawings, Manufacturing Techniques Sheets, Forgings Qualification, Test Reports and Qualification Reports
Manage and execute R&D projects conceive and approve test plans, interpret results, and draw conclusions
Support redesign activities and investigate new environmental regulations impacting A220.
Be required to handle difficult issues and make challenging technical decisions.
Provide clear visibility to management of the status and/or emerging issues related to the supported activities.


As our ideal candidate,

You hold a degree in materials engineering, metallurgy, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering.
You have a minimum of fifteen years of experience in Aerospace industry directly related to metallic materials use in Aircraft Structures. Previous experience with certification of a new aircraft is an asset.
You have an extended knowledge in the materials used in the aerospace industry, understand the mechanisms of wear, corrosion and are at ease with aerospace materials assembly and protection methods
You have hands-on experience with one or more of the following fields:
Metallic material testing and allowables establishment.
Composite material testing and allowables establishment.
Familiarity with qualification of forgings, extrusions, castings and other material forms
Good understanding of aerospace Surface finishing, including plating, anodizing, and organic finishing
Aerospace fasteners selection, qualification, and installation requirements
Good understanding of metallic materials failure analysis
Exposure to latest developments in 3-d manufacturing is a definite asset
Complementary expertise or experience in NDT of aerospace components, FPI, MPI, Eddy-Current and UT is a definite asset
You are familiar with Quality systems eg. ISO, AS9100, NADCAP, etc..
You are at ease with aerospace industry standards such as SAE ASTM, and OEM specifications, exposure to Federal and Military specifications could be an asset.
Knowledge of REACH regulations is an asset.
You have shown strong leadership, problem solving, project, and time/priority management skills in your past assignments.
You have excellent communication skills written and spoken in English and have good understanding of French.
You are able to work in a cross functional team environment and interact on a daily basis with other professionals and technicians.
You have a good working knowledge of computer software such as CATIA, Enovia, and Microsoft Office, Visio, etc., knowledge of MIDAS, FRACAS, and similar software is a definitive asset
