I am looking for one responsible and dedicated caregiver (any gender; NO prior experience necessary) for Sundays starting as soon as possible. Each shift is 24 (twenty-four) hours long, in my home, at $400 per shift, 9 AM to 9 AM the following day, and would include training. You would be working directly for me, a middle-aged physically disabled man, who is physically dependent on someone for all activities of daily living. Because of my varying needs, it is important that someone is always here to do my care, but there will be long stretches of time where I will not need care. Ideal for students!
Duties include:
- personal care – feeding via feeding tube, dressing, showering, toileting, administering medication
- doing transfers via sling and mechanical/electric lift
- waking up an average of 3 times per night for repositioning/assisting the individual
- light housework – laundry, taking out garbage, etc.
- assisting client in the community (going to medical appointments and social outings)
Qualifications of successful applicant:
- must complete a criminal record check for vulnerable sector (will be reimbursed fully for expense)
- must have Flu & Covid 19 vaccines (I’m at extreme risk if I get sick)
- comfortable working with a male client; should be flexible, easy-going, and willing to learn
- is reliable and punctual
- can easily take directions & work independently, while respecting privacy where necessary
- prior nursing and/or caregiving experience NOT REQUIRED, but experience within the healthcare field is an asset

I’m currently living in the Kensington-Cedar Cottage area in Vancouver’s East End with my partner. Because you would be in my apartment 24 hours per shift, here’s a little bit about what I like to do and my personality. I’m easy-going & introverted, and value my independence; l love video games, being a very big nerd, watching movies and television, and listening to music.
