Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver - Class 1 to join our transportation team. This role involves safely operating commercial vehicles to transport freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, familiarity with heavy equipment, and a commitment to excellent service.
Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks for local and long-distance freight deliveries
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including automotive repairs when necessary
- Ensure proper documentation of shipments, delivery receipts, and logs in compliance with regulations
- Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic laws during transportation
- Assist with loading and securing freight to prevent damage during transit
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate delivery schedules
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of the truck and related equipment
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience in freight transportation and commercial driving operations
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics is a plus for handling minor vehicle issues
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures for transporting freight
- Physical ability to load, unload, lift, and move freight as required
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with route planning tools
- Prior experience with heavy equipment operation is desirable but not mandatory
