About the Opportunity
Currently, Talos Steel is searching for an enthusiastic Draftsperson to join our team in Sudbury, ON.
As our next Draftsperson, your primary responsibility will be to design and draw/draft assigned products in development as well as drafting design modifications for existing products.
More specifically, your responsibilities in the role will include:
Designing custom components/equipment as per customer specifications.
Creating high level 3D conceptual designs for customer proposals/review.
Overseeing projects to include new products, but also sustaining projects and value improvement projects.
Using company equipment to prototype designs when needed.
Inspecting and verifying accuracy of designed parts.
Creating and/or revising bill of materials as required.
Creating high-level detailed manufacturing drawings utilizing GD&T to current CSA standards.
Performing structural take-offs to create project costing summaries.
Drafting test reports, audits, and text for instruction sheets.
Supporting engineering management with timely updates on engineering progress and performance.
Directly interfacing with customer requirements as well as visiting the site as required.
Providing support to production staff in a fast-paced environment.
In order to qualify for this role, you must have at least 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Draftsperson or Designer within the Mining Sector as well as a current WHMIS Certificate. You'll also join us with proficiency in Microsoft Office along with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Mechanical Desktop (AutoCad/Inventor). Norcat Site Underground Site Orientation and Norcat Lockout/Tagout are preferred.
As our ideal candidate for this role, you will be a professional and results-driven individual with excellent organizational, prioritization, and management skills. Your strong communication skills in both written and verbal form will combine with your excellent timekeeping abilities to ensure your success as you work towards tight deadlines and manage the expectations of competing stakeholders. Your natural aptitude for staying calm under pressure will allow you to easily meet the deadlines that are mandated by our clients.
Please note that this role will require occasional site visits which may include going underground into a mine.
