Anatomical Pathology C&W Labs, LM Labs, $27.46 per hour
What you’ll do
Confirm workload priorities with Pathologist by checking with the Pathologist, Pathologist Assistant, Head Technologist or designate.
Prepare for an autopsy by performing duties including preparing cadaver; preparing equipment and supplies; ensuring that autopsy room and equipment are routinely cleaned, kept in good supply and in good working order; and ensuring that patient identification matches autopsy consent.
Assist the Pathologist, Pathologist Assistant, and Residents with their examination of specimens, including autopsy, fetal pathology, surgical pathology, and placentas.
Perform duties associated with autopsy examination and surgical prosection including entry of patient information in the Laboratory Information system, specimen x-ray, photography, and preparation of specimens for special studies such as cytogenetics and microbiology.
Assist Pathologist, Pathologist Assistant, and Residents in their gross examination of large or complex specimens.
Prepare bodies for viewing and assists social workers as required.
What you bring
Completion of Grade 12
Completion of courses in anatomy
One (1) year recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
You will have the ability to:
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Deal with others effectively.
Physically carry out the duties of the position.
Operate related equipment.
