We are currently looking for a senior level Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team.
OVERVIEW
The preferred individual should also have mechanical engineering/design experience on balance off plant and process facilities within the Oil & Gas industry. The applicant must have a minimum of 15+ years of experience and would be hired on a contract basis. Additionally, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a project team environment are required for this position.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide guidance on the development of conceptual layouts and engineering drawings.
- Size and calculate conveying system capacities.
- Calculate conveyor HP requirements.
- Create mechanical equipment component lists.
- Prepare vendor RFQ documentation.
- Collaborate with clients on conveying concepts and develop effective working solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to support project decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards throughout project lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns to foster professional development and knowledge transfer.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 15+ years of formal training and experience in engineering design or EPC projects to qualify as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
- Experience in piping and pipe design is an asset.
- Must be licensed as a professional engineer registered, or eligible for registration, with EGBC or APEGA.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing improvements for existing systems and processes.
SKILLS
- Must possess strong engineering skills and be capable of interacting with all engineering disciplines.
- Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices.
- Experience related to Major Projects, phase gated project processes, and Supply Chain Management procurement processes is an asset.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be capable of interacting with peers, project managers, site managers, and clients.
- Proven track record of accomplishment as a design engineer and the ability to work in a team of engineers, designers, and support personnel.
- Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex engineering challenges.
- Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is an asset.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
- In-depth knowledge of piping and pressure systems, including design, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in the selection and specification of compressors for various applications.
- Proficient in the design, selection, and testing of valves, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Familiarity with packaged equipment, including skid-mounted systems, and their integration into larger facilities.
- Knowledge of ASME and CZA regulations related to mechanical systems and components.
- Experience in conducting system performance evaluations and recommending enhancements for efficiency and reliability.
- Must-have experience in the Oil & Gas industry, focusing on process facilities, pipeline systems, and safety standards.
- Experience in other industries such as Pulp & Paper, Mining, and Alternative Energy is an asset, showcasing versatility in engineering application.
