Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Wharf Construction Labourer to assist in the building of a wharf on the East Coast. The ideal candidate is physically fit, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in outdoor and waterfront environments. Travel to and from the job site, meals and accommodations will be provided, working a two weeks on one week off rotation.
Duties
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, equipment operators) in wharf construction activities
- Perform manual labour such as digging, lifting, carrying heavy materials, and operating basic tools under supervision.
- Support the installation of structural components like cribs, beams, and decking according to project specifications.
- Follow safety protocols diligently to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and team members.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Work in varying weather and tidal conditions
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Previous construction or general labour experience preferred (marine construction an asset)
- Strong teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards learning new skills.
- Good communication skills to follow instructions clearly and work effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
- Comfortable working near or over water
Assets:
- Completion of safety courses; WHMIS 2015, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Powerline Hazards etc.
- Valid Driver's License
