Madrina Bar y Tapas, part of The Distillery Restaurants Corporation, creators of El Catrin, Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie, Pure Spirits Oyster House & Bar, Archeo Trattoria and Distillery Events, is actively seeking engaged BARTENDERS to join the Front of House team within our growing company!

Our venues are located in the Distillery Historic District, one of Canada's most exciting art and shopping destinations and home to some of the top-ranked restaurants in the City of Toronto (including ours!). Madrina Bar y Tapas opened in June 2018 to bring experiential Catalan tapas to Toronto.

At Madrina, Chef Ramon Simarro, whose experience consists of both Michelin-star restaurants and popular casual eateries focuses on seasonal products alongside authentic ingredients from Spain to re-imagine a menu that marries innovation and fun with Barcelona classics. Our beverage program includes a collection of over 50 gins, an impressive (and almost entirely Spanish) wine list, sangria by the pitcher, and a thoughtful spirit list with imaginative cocktail options. Our impressive drinks program pairs with the innovation, tradition and twists of our culinary offerings.

Translated from Spanish, Madrina is the whimsical and spirited godmother you always wish you had. Her playful demeanour is mirrored in food and service that doesn't take itself too seriously!

Our Bartenders take pride in their food and beverage knowledge and are always learning. They build relationships with their guests and are empowered to go above and beyond to deliver outstanding service. They display natural showmanship, have great communication skills and an eye for detail. A Bartender receives beverage orders and makes beverages in a timely and efficient manner maintaining all DRC standards. They also communicate beverage descriptions and modifications with team members to ensure guests receive their requested beverage.

What you will be responsible for:
Creating exceptional guest experiences by pairing genuine care with adherence to steps of service.
Possessing complete working knowledge of all the menus and menu ingredients.
Follow all set beverage recipe specs and procedures to ensure menu items are delivered with speed, consistency and absolute quality.
Communicate beverage descriptions, specials, and information, to guests and team members.
Anticipate guests' service needs by actively listening and responding positively to guests' questions, concerns and requests in an effort to resolve issues, delight and build trust.
Be aware of any special requests, inclusive of guest allergies, and accommodate accordingly.
Keep management well informed of any and all operational inconsistencies and/or guest complaints.
Perform and sign off on opening, closing and daily duties, including setting-up and taking apart bar area and glass washer.
Stock, maintain, secure, and organize all bar/beverage inventory, including wines, beer kegs, spirits, supplies, mise en place, etc.
Supervise inventory levels and communicate when necessary to ensure inventory is not low or out.
Assist in bar/beverage inventory and ordering as required.
Routine cleaning, and upkeep of all bar/beverage areas and equipment. Reporting any issues, including potential safety hazards to the manager on duty.
Correctly accepting and processing payments; providing accurate billing and supporting documents for any Credit Card(s), Gift Card(s), Gift Certificate(s), etc.

Other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required

What we would like you to bring to the restaurant:
Minimum four (4) years bartending experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment
Hospitality degree/diploma and/or the equivalent in education and experience is an asset
Bartender training, wine knowledge and Sommelier certification and/or experience is an asset
Impeccable wine, beverage and beer product and service knowledge
Smart Serve Certification is required
Computer literate in Point-of-Sale software (Micros)
