A full-time position for a postdoctoral fellow is available in the research laboratory of Dr. Bassam Abdulkarim, at the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) in Montreal. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative team-oriented research environment and in a world-class facility affiliated with the premiere Canadian University.
The available funded projects involve studies on drugs, molecular and cellular response to therapy in brain tumours. The position entails the opportunity to interact with basic and clinical investigators.
Candidates must hold a recently obtained relevant PhD, and be within 3 years of the degree completion. The successful candidate(s) will use a wide range of approaches including functional genomics, cellular and in vivo imaging, tumour models, clinical data analysis and bioinformatics to investigate the mechanisms of tumor resistance. A strong background in oncology, molecular biology and bioinformatics are essential.
Candidates are expected to have strong ability to work independently, design and perform studies, analyze data, and train students, Collaborate with other lab members and external collaborators. The candidates will be expected to take part in writing manuscripts, grant proposals, and present work at internal, local, national and international meetings
The RI-MUHC in Montreal, Quebec is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre hospital network affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of the McGill University. The RI-MUHC Glen site campus offers an outstanding scientific and patient-oriented research environment with state-of-the-art modern core facilities and specialized technology platforms, including cell imaging, modern animal facility, multimodality animal imaging suite and cutting edge dedicated small animal image-guided radiotherapy system (Precision X-ray irradiator PXi, X-RAD 225Cx) to pursue basic, translational and clinical research programs in oncology

Funding is available for 3 years. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
