Position Summary
The Landscape Operator runs equipment safely and efficiently to support landscape construction and maintenance work. You’ll handle site prep, grading, material handling, and general production support while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and jobsite professionalism.
Key Responsibilities: Equipment Operation
- Safely operate equipment such as skid steer, mini-excavator, compactors, plate tampers, and other job-specific machinery.
- Perform fine grading, rough grading, and site shaping to match plans and drainage intent.
- Load, unload, and transport materials on site (soil, gravel, plants, hardscape materials).
- Helping with general labour
Site Prep and Production Support
- Assist with excavation and trenching for base prep, drainage, and landscape features as directed.
- Support hardscape and softscape crews (base placement, compaction support, backfill, material staging).
- Maintain clean, organized jobsites, including erosion control and protection of existing site features.
Daily Inspections and Maintenance
- Complete daily equipment inspections (fluids, tires/tracks, pins/attachments, safety systems).
- Identify issues early and report needed repairs promptly.
- Keep equipment clean and refueled, follow shutdown and securement procedures.
Team and Communication
- Work closely with the foreperson and crew to hit daily targets and avoid rework.
- Follow plans, markings, and instructions, ask questions when unclear.
- Document or communicate equipment hours, issues, and job progress as required.
Safety and Professionalism
- Follow company safety standards and jobsite rules, use PPE, and work around utilities responsibly.
- Operate with awareness around people, buildings, traffic, and underground services.
- Represent Rimrock professionally with clients, GCs, and the public.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years experience operating landscape or construction equipment (or strong transferable experience).
- Strong safety mindset and ability to work efficiently without cutting corners.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., work outdoors in variable weather, and handle physical tasks when not operating.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Experience with grading to laser level, drainage prep, and hardscape base prep.
- Experience towing trailers and loading equipment safely.
- Familiarity working on commercial jobsites and coordinating with other trades.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $29.00-$32.00 per hour
