Job Overview
The Eastern Irrigation District (EID), Brooks, Alberta, seeks a seasonal TRUCK DRIVER to join our Construction team. This position may have potential to transition into a full-time position.
Under the direction of the Equipment Superintendent, the Truck Driver is responsible for the operations side of the business during the winter and summer months including duties associated with construction, maintenance, and water delivery throughout the District.
Responsibilities
- Operate an EID tri-axle truck with jeep and lowbed trailer, including loading, transporting, and unloading heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operate an EID truck and trailer/pup.
- Operate EID tractor trailer units, including super bees and tri-axles.
- Operate other heavy-duty equipment when necessary to support District operations.
- Working collaboratively with others to load and unload materials or equipment required for use in the District and ensure proper securing of these materials or equipment.
- Obey all local, provincial and federal rules and regulations (traffic signs; National Safety Code, etc.).
- Ensure that required permits are obtained; complete any required logs for scale/gravel haul tickets.
- Perform ongoing and regular maintenance on equipment; maintain vehicle log and reports on a daily basis.
- Communicate regularly with other District staff to co-ordinate activities that support the construction, maintenance, and water delivery services throughout the District.
Qualifications
- Must have a Class 1 driver's licence with air endorsement.
- Must be able to produce a current driver’s abstract and clean criminal records report.
- Must be able to operate a loader; ability to operate other heavy-duty equipment would be an asset.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence required.
This is a safety-sensitive position and, as such, candidates must complete preemployment drug and alcohol screening, provide a current driver’s abstract, and a criminal record check.
