MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - SURFACE FINISHING

In this position, you will be reporting to the Operations Support Manager. As the Maintenance Supervisor - Surface Finishing, you will be responsible for the oversight of all the maintenance activities for the Processing/Surface Finishing department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise maintenance personnel and schedule their day to day work.
Set priorities of maintenance works orders using CMMS system.
Assist and represent Maintenance Manager at all levels.
Source and supervise outside contractors, i.e. cleaning, mechanical, electrical contractors, etc.
Accurate deployment of maintenance schedules ensuring that equipment is available to meet production schedules.
Ensure that essential spare parts are in stock.
Assist in the preparation of budgets within the area and control expenditure.
Present training requirements in support of department initiatives.
Ensure preventative maintenance is performed and administered as specified in the maintenance procedures.
Implement safety requests from the Safety Department.
Keep up-to-date on technical innovations, advise on same and implement where appropriate.
Update critical downtime reports.
Manage manpower requirements for the area.
Develop appropriation requests.
Conduct appraisals and undertake appropriate action.
Interview and hire employees.

Requirements:
Licensed Trades person, MMP (Maintenance Management Professional) Certified or enrolled in
Community College /Trade certificate.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a surface finishing environment
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of safety standards applicable to a Manufacturing industry.
Experience managing a large and diverse group of tradesmen or at a minimum or proven high level of competency and reliability together with an aptitude for motivating staff.
Excellent knowledge of materials and trades.
Proficient PC skills with emphasis on Microsoft Business software.
Flexible with broad skill set.
Excellent use of initiative and motivator.
Experienced in Lean initiatives ie. LP, Greenbelt etc.
Strong communication and organization skills.
