Fernie Veterinary Services is looking for a compassionate, organized, and service-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This position is essential to our clinic’s success, supporting back of clinic operations and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Veterinary Assistant Duties
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
- Provide general animal care, including feeding, grooming, walks, and monitoring post-surgical recovery
- Safely restrain animals and soothe those that are fearful or distressed
- Maintain a clean, sanitized clinic environment and sterilize surgical equipment
- Support inventory, ordering, and restocking efforts
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent - Required
- Customer service experience -Asset
- Animal care or veterinary experience -Asset
- Comfortable working in a clinical setting, including euthanasia support and post-mortem care
- Proficiency with computers and software (MS Office, Outlook) AviMark experience is an asset
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and multitasking skills
- Team player with a positive attitude, initiative, and a calm demeanor under pressure
- Some Saturday coverage required
