Hungry Zus at UBC is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Food Counter Attendant to join our vibrant food service team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble food items according to established recipes and quality standards, ensuring freshness and presentation.
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems such as Micros POS to process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash transactions with precision, including cash handling and cashiering duties, while providing excellent customer service.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, utensils, and food handling areas in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist customers with menu selections, answer questions about ingredients or dietary options, and upsell additional items to enhance sales.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Follow all food industry regulations regarding food safety, sanitation, and proper handling procedures to ensure a safe environment for staff and guests.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and food service within a restaurant or similar environment.
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Micros POS for efficient order processing.
- Strong cash handling skills combined with basic math abilities for accurate transactions.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling techniques.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with kitchen operations or restaurant experience is preferred but not required; enthusiasm to learn is essential.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks during peak hours and ensure timely service.
