The Maintenance Relief Supervisor is a key player in the organization of maintenance activities and in supporting the Assistant. When not acting as a replacement, they work full-time on advancing departmental projects.
On the shop floor, they serve as a link between production and maintenance. In addition to managing maintenance staff, they ensure equipment availability and proper functioning, as well as the progress of work in compliance with costs, deadlines, and applicable standards.
They deploy the human and technical resources required to carry out maintenance activities. They also ensure proper coordination of activities with production teams and oversee the application of safety, quality, and sanitation standards.

Maintenance Organization
- Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities;

Ensure that equipment and technical resources are operational;

Set intervention priorities based on production needs;

Monitor performance indicators (breakdowns, downtime, interventions);

Coordinate activities with the various departments involved;

Ensure availability of parts and required resources;
-
Participate in internal and external audits (quality, OHS, food safety);

Ensure that all interventions comply with HACCP, GMP, and MAPAQ standards;

Collaborate with the Quality department in tracking non-conformities.
Management
- Supervise, lead, and engage the maintenance team;
-
Plan work schedules and manage absences;
-
Ensure proper communication of instructions and information;
-
Evaluate employee performance and follow up accordingly;

Participate in onboarding new employees;
-
Work with Human Resources to apply HR practices;
-
Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement projects within the maintenance department;
-
Suggest technical or organizational improvements;
-
Analyze recurring breakdowns and contribute to corrective action plans;

Ensure effective communication within the team and with other departments.
Relief Duties
- Replace supervisors during vacations, leave, and all types of absences (illness, training, etc.);

Maintain continuity of maintenance operations in a 24/7 environment;

Quickly adapt to different shifts (day, evening, night) based on operational needs.
Required Skills
- Preferred education: College diploma (DEC) in mechanical maintenance, industrial maintenance, or electromechanics, or equivalent experience (3 to 5 years);

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years in a similar role;

Strong command of French; functional English to interact with various departments;

Experience in the food industry is an asset;

Class C license (asset);

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office;

Proficiency in a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is an asset.
