About the role.
The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production line equipment, from Potato Receiving through Palletizing, as well as supporting building maintenance activities. This role plays a critical part in maximizing equipment reliability, supporting production objectives, and maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing manufacturing environment.
What you’ll be doing.

Perform maintenance activities as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and Planner/Scheduler.

Complete scheduled maintenance work and preventive maintenance (PM) activities.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment and system issues across the facility.

Utilize SAP to process work orders and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
-
Technically complete (TECO) work orders and enter detailed confirmation comments in SAP.
-
Identify equipment malfunctions and create SAP notifications to ensure corrective action is taken.

Create and manage emergency or reactive work orders for unplanned maintenance requirements.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment while supporting 5S housekeeping standards.

Complete Hot Work Permits and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Follow McCain maintenance, HACCP, environmental, sanitation, waste management, and recycling programs.

Participate in sanitation days and plant shutdown activities as required.

Work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, or straight day shifts, based on business needs.
What you’ll need to be successful.

Licensed Industrial Mechanic certification or enrollment in an Industrial Mechanic apprenticeship program.

Strong troubleshooting and equipment repair skills in a manufacturing environment.

Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferably SAP.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and work order management processes.

Understanding of HACCP, GMP, environmental, and sanitation requirements within a food manufacturing environment.

Ability to identify hazards, complete Job Safety Plans, and promote a safe workplace culture.

Commitment to following Lockout/Tag-Out procedures and all company safety standards.

Ability to work varying shifts, including 12-hour day and night rotations, weekends, sanitation days, and shutdown periods as required.

Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

You will join the Maintenance team, working closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Planners/Schedulers, Operations teams, and fellow trades professionals to support plant reliability and operational excellence. The team is dedicated to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable equipment performance while driving continuous improvement across the facility.
