The Skipper is responsible for all waterfront activities, equipment and the safe operation and maintenance of all resort boats and pontoon tours.
1. Tour Operation and Sales 50%
a. Captain the pontoon boat according to daily schedule of bookings for tours and tubing.
b. Greet and familiarize guests with the beach and boat. Take exceptional care of the guests on board as well as the boat: be friendly, genuine and communicative.
c. Create interesting routes and points of interest for the boat tours; be knowledgeable of the area and its history, the resort, its amenities and other local attractions.
d. Recognize and encourage upselling opportunities for rebooking, food and merchandise sales during tours.
e. Promote rental sales, know the prices for all water activities and equipment and operate according to all necessary criteria, including safety checklists, boat licenses and age restrictions.
2. Equipment Management 30%
a. Accurately check and evaluate equipment daily, including canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, waterbikes/walkerz/balls, SUPs and paddleboats
b. Ensure safety equipment is in proper working condition, including life jackets, paddles, oars and safety kits.
c. Maintain accurate equipment inventory records.
d. Ensure all non-motorized equipment is kept clean and available.
e. Ensure pontoon boat and all fishing boats and motors are clean, operable and ready for rental.
3. Leadership 10%
a. Train, monitor, coach and mentor 1st mate(s) on the correct and safe operation of all boats and water equipment.
b. Set 1st mate up for seamless shift coverage, ensuring pontoon tours and experiences remain consistent with the same high standard of service and level of knowledge.
c. Ensure safety of all team members around water and boating equipment.
d. Set, encourage and achieve realistic daily and weekly performance targets for self and team members including pontoon tours/tubing, fishing boat and water equipment rentals.
4. Property maintenance
a. Ensure beach is raked daily and chairs set up/organized by 8:00a.m.
b. Ensure docks are in good condition and safe
c. Ensure non-motorized water equipment area is clean, organized, well-presented.
