Required Skillsets
Core Database Skills
- Oracle DB – strong hands-on expertise (mandatory)
- PostgreSQL – strong hands-on expertise (mandatory)
- AWS RDS & Aurora – solid working experience
- Additional databases (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) are a plus
Cloud & Infrastructure
- AWS ecosystem: EC2, S3, CloudWatch, VPC, RDS, Aurora
- Experience with cloud migration patterns (on-prem Oracle → AWS / Aurora PostgreSQL)
Performance & Monitoring
- Database performance tuning and SQL / PL/SQL optimization
- Monitoring tools: OEM, Splunk, Dynatrace, AWS CloudWatch
Automation & DevOps
- Working knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation
- CI/CD pipeline experience for database deployments
Replication & Backup
- GoldenGate and AWS DMS experience
- Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
Nice to Have
- AWS Certification – Database, Cloud Foundations, or Solutions Architect Associate
Job Duties
- Manage and maintain database systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Aurora, RDS, Exadata) for availability, reliability, and performance
- Implement automated management and monitoring strategies for database and transaction processing environments
- Influence database design, development, and cloud migration execution (on-prem Oracle → AWS Aurora PostgreSQL), including schema design, data migration strategy, performance, and observability
- Enforce best practices for production database management – high availability (multi-region/zone), scalability, security, and compliance
- Continuously enhance database observability and performance metrics using CloudWatch, Splunk, and Dynatrace to proactively detect and prevent incidents
- Analyze complex distributed production deployments and optimize performance through automation and resiliency strategies
- Conduct SQL tuning and optimization: analyze execution plans, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries
- Plan, create, resize, and monitor tablespaces for efficient performance and space utilization
- Develop automated PL/SQL scripts and validate data accuracy through source-target mapping analysis
- Plan and execute database backups, recovery strategies, and replication using GoldenGate and AWS DMS
- Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate data deployment, testing, and monitoring
- Drive automation initiatives to eliminate manual database tasks and improve operational efficiency
- Collaborate closely with application and product teams to support development, testing, and automation goals
- Participate in rotating on-call production support for critical incidents and scheduled changes
Pay: $50.00-$55.00 per hour
