Purpose of position:
The Investment Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the Investment team to invest in companies and funds that align with InBC’s triple bottom line mandate. The Investment Analyst will support the Investment team through strategic enablement and coordination of activities throughout the full investment gating process, from deal sourcing through due diligence and deal execution to post-investment support.

Key interactions:
Internally the Investment Analyst will work with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and other Investment team members, the Finance team, General Counsel, the Marketing and Communications Specialist and the Strategic Engagement Manager.
Externally the Investment Analyst may work with early stage companies, venture investors, and ecosystem partners such as accelerators, incubators, and other entrepreneurial support organizations.
Key accountabilities :
Strategic enablement
- Support strategic planning activities, including preparation of Board and committee materials.
- Support the management of CRM, document management, and other tools and templates to enable Investment team processes. Proactively identify continuous improvement and support implementation of changes.
- Work with IT Manager to maintain and support enhancements and updates to CRM; responsible for data maintenance and cleanliness.
- Coordinate the preparation of materials and scheduling for investment governance forums, such as the External Advisory Circle (EAC) and the Investment Review Committee (IRC).
- Build and maintain good relationships with InBC’s connections including, but not limited to, vendors, businesses that are prospective investments, advisors, consultants, and partners.
- Support external communications including drafting correspondence, and in coordination with the Marketing and Communications Specialist, support our CIO and CEO to amplify social media outreach.
- Continuously stay up to date on current technology and innovation trends.
Deal sourcing support
- Support research deep dives, industry analysis and market mapping of investment opportunities with direction from more senior investment team members.
- In collaboration with the Strategic Engagement Manager and Marketing and Communications Specialist, drive the research, identification and tracking of prospective investment opportunities and manage the review process with the Investment team.
- Complete initial screening of investment opportunities at top of funnel to identify which opportunities should be reviewed further and manage watchlist of opportunities for follow up.
Investment process support
- Support the Investment team with any additional research and analysis required for due diligence, and development of materials as necessary.
- Support the Investment team with execution of investment transactions, coordinating with other teams such as Legal and Finance as necessary.
- Support the flow and documentation of approvals through the investment gating process.
Investment portfolio support
- Facilitate coordination of any partnership or communications related requests on behalf of the Investment team.
- Support the Investment team and Finance team with collection of financial and impact KPIs and reporting as required.
- Support coordination and preparation of quarterly portfolio review process.
- Support development of materials to discuss underlying performance and progress of investments in quarterly portfolio review process.
- Support coordination of quarterly investment risk review process.
Special projects
- As required by the Chief Investment Officer.
This position could include other duties as assigned, based on the needs of the organization.

Qualifications :
- Minimum 2-3 years of working in venture capital, investment banking, private equity, management consulting or other relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working in a startup environment is considered an asset.

- Is a self-starter who thrives on challenging objectives and can manage through ambiguity to find solutions.
- Strong proficiency in using productivity tools such as MS PowerPoint for effective strategic communications and MS Excel for data analysis.
