Overview
Dent King Autobody & PDR inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Prepper/apprentice refinish technician to join our team. This position is for the preparation end of our production, and the most time will be spent there, although we are looking for a candidate that we can train to be a backup fill in refinish technician as well. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces to ensure high-quality results in a timely and efficient manner. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team dedicated to excellence in craftsmanship and safety. Prior experience with automotive refinishing, mechanical knowledge, and familiarity with various tools are highly valued. The position requires physical stamina and attention to detail to deliver durable and visually appealing finishes. Apprenticeship opportunities will be extended to the winning candidate after 6 months employment.
The proper candidate will have a willingness to learn and will be adaptable to long work days, as overtime is often established during the busy summer months.
Responsibilities
- Willingness to take instruction and learn
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking to ensure proper paint adhesion
- Apply primer, paint, and coatings using spray equipment
- Mix undercoats and top coats accurately and consistently
- Use hand tools and power tools to repair or prepare surfaces before painting
- Perform heavy lifting of materials or equipment as needed for preparation or cleanup
- Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and properly dispose of waste materials
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
Experience
- Prior autobody experience is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to automotive repair or industrial machinery is a plus
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and spray equipment is essential
- Experience with heavy lifting and physical labor required for surface preparation and finishing tasks
- Previous mechanic or automotive repair experience is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship skills, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
