EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Executive Director
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) provides strategic leadership and operational management to advance the Prairie Sky Chamber of Commerce's mission, vision and strategic priorities. Serving as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors, members, government, community partners and stakeholders, the Executive Director oversees all aspects of the Chamber's operations, including governance support, financial management, membership development, advocacy, marketing, communications, events and organizational sustainability.
Qualifications:
· College diploma or University degree or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership or management experience, preferably within a non-profit, business association, economic development or member-based organization
· Strong leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
· Organized, efficient, resourceful and dependable
· Ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines
· Strong public speaking, interpersonal and negotiation skills
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and cloud-based business software, including CRM/member management systems, accounting software and website content management systems.
· Experience in financial management, bookkeeping, budgeting and payroll administration.
· Knowledge of the Warman & Martensville business region preferred
· Experience with other business associations, economic development offices or non-profit organizations considered an asset
Executive Director Responsibilities:
Governance & Strategic Leadership
· Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the Prairie Sky Chamber of Commerce’s strategic plan
· Implement the annual budget and strategic priorities as approved by the Board of Directors, ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational resources
· Monitor and report the progress of strategic objectives and allocation of resources on a monthly basis
· Advise, support and solicit direction from the Board of Directors through regular communication and monthly meetings
· Serve as recording secretary to the Board of Directors by preparing agendas, reports and minutes, maintaining official records and supporting Board governance
Operations & Financial Management
· Plan, organize and oversee daily operations of the Prairie Sky Chamber of Commerce
· Manage the budget as approved by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible for oversight of bookkeeping, maintaining accurate financial information and monitoring monthly cash flow
· Responsible for all human resource administration, including maintaining personnel records, employment policies and legislative compliance. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and is currently the organization's sole employee.
· Ensure compliance of accepted business practices, government regulations, employment standards and bylaws.
· Develop and maintain records of Chamber members, communications, events and activities
Membership & Advocacy
· Responsible for membership recruitment and retention
· Responsible for researching business issues and presenting them to the Board of Directors for discussion
· Develop relationships with elected officials, government agencies and partner organizations to advance the Chamber's advocacy priorities.
· Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism and ethical conduct in all aspects of Chamber operations.
· Develop partnership and sponsorship arrangements to strengthen the profile of the Chamber and to generate revenue
Marketing, Communication & Events
· Develop and implement marketing, communications, media relations and public engagement strategies that strengthen the Chamber's profile and member value
· Manage the Chamber's website and digital platforms, ensuring information remains current, accurate and relevant to members and the broader business community
· Identify, pursue and administer grants, sponsorships and partnership opportunities that support the Chamber's strategic objectives.
· Represent the Chamber at community events and develop relationships with members and Chamber partners.
· Ensure that members are kept informed through regular communications and solicit feedback from the membership. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
· Network with other business associations to acquire information and ideas and to establish contacts. Attend relevant conferences and meetings to increase knowledge and advance the Chamber of Commerce and its members’ interests
· Lead the planning, coordination and evaluation of all Chamber programs, events and initiatives.
· Additional duties as mutually agreed upon by the Prairie Sky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Executive Director
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.
Occasional evening and weekend availability is required to support Chamber Events and Programs
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
