Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Yard & Fleet Logistics Manager to oversee the efficient operation of our yard and fleet activities. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate transportation, inventory, and warehouse distribution processes to ensure seamless logistics flow across all operations. Your leadership will drive process improvements, optimize supply chain functions, and maintain high standards of safety and compliance. Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all yard activities, including vehicle dispatching, freight handling, and materials management to maximize efficiency and safety.
- Oversee fleet management operations, including vehicle scheduling, maintenance planning, and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Lead inventory management efforts within warehouse distribution centers, ensuring accurate stock levels through rigorous inventory control and demand planning.
- Supervise shipping & receiving processes, including order picking, packing, and order fulfillment to meet customer expectations.
- Implement process improvements utilizing supply chain analytics and transportation management systems (TMS) to streamline operations.
- Collaborate with procurement teams on sourcing strategies, pricing negotiations, and category management for materials handling supplies.
- Utilize ERP systems such as AS400 or equivalent to monitor logistics data, analyze performance metrics, and optimize transportation planning.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) partners to ensure smooth freight movement across all channels.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to forklift operation, materials handling equipment (CMMS), and warehouse procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatching activities, freight movements, warehouse inventory levels, and yard security protocols.
Experience
- Proven experience in supply chain management with a focus on warehouse distribution, transportation management, or fleet operations.
- Strong background in inventory management systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation planning tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives using data analysis skills and supply chain analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, pricing strategies, demand planning, and category management within a logistics context.
- Hands-on experience with freight forwarding (including NVOCC operations), shipping & receiving procedures, and order fulfillment workflows.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning platforms used for logistics coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating across departments including operations management, sourcing teams, and external partners such as 3PL providers.
