JOB SUMMARY
Hestia is looking for a skilled Lead Hand Carpenter who is hard working and experienced in large commercial construction projects. You will play a vital role in our projects, contributing your expertise to ensure the successful completion of various carpentry tasks. You will be working in a team environment and also be expected to perform independently.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and plan daily activities with the onsite subtrades
- Assist in briefing site team about daily tasks and how to complete the tasks
- Provide guidance and mentorship to site teams, carpenters, and all laborers
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, troubleshoot any issues that occur
- Manage the completion of project deadlines and tasks as directed
- Install structures and fixtures made of wood, wood substitutes, other materials and concrete forming
- Monitor and guide compliance with Hestia Safety programs and relevant safety legislation, ensure a safe working environment
- Provide guidance and input to procuring materials and tools needed for the project
- Coordinate inspections and repairs to any damaged structures
- Complete and manage carpentry related paperwork, QC checklists, timesheets, safety documentation and material take offs
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure project specifications are met
QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience of a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ in commercial construction
- Journeyman ticket in carpentry, any other additional certifications or training are an asset
- Proficient with a variety of standard construction tools, such as jackhammers, saws, drills and other standard hand tools
- Experience operating various large construction equipment, such as ZoomBoom, Bobcat etc
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques and best practices
- Excellent problem solving, communication and organizational skills
- Maintain a current driver's license and own transportation
- You will be required to provide your own PPE
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. maximum
- Physical stamina to frequently lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
- Work will involve pushing and pulling, climbing, bending and reaching
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
