KGS Group is looking for a Senior Risk Assessor to join our Environmental team in our head office in Winnipeg, MB, or in one of our regional offices (Mississauga, Thunder Bay, Vancouver, Saskatoon, or Regina). Remote/hybrid working arrangements are also possible.

In this position you will have a key role in developing, supporting and delivering risk assessment and risk management projects throughout Canada. The Senior Risk Assessor Sites Specialist will have the ability and experience to work within our department management structure, to support and mentor employees as a technical resource contributing to all contaminated sites projects and activities within the department as well as our regional offices. You will lead human health and/or ecological risk assessment projects for both internal and external clients. You will also play a larger role in the development of the Risk Assessment capabilities within the organization and play a large role in mentoring and growing the team. You will be working in a collaborative environment with a great team of engineers and scientists, and you will also have the opportunity to interface directly with clients.
Responsibilities are anticipated to include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Guidance and mentoring of the environmental team and working collaboratively with other senior members to support the growth and knowledge of risk assessment within the company.
- Assessment of human and ecological risk, toxicology, and provide direction on management and mitigation of exposure and development of remedial measures.
- Managing and executing multiple risk assessment and contaminated sites projects from the proposal stage through to completion. Projects will include a variety of small to large projects involving multiple disciplines and service lines.
- Establish linkages with other departments and other offices to support and enhance service delivery.
- Travel to project sites is usually limited but is required depending on project/client requirements.
- Working collaboratively with other disciplines to execute project deliverables, as well as ensuring that quality objectives, schedules and budgets are met.
- Pursuing and supporting business opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Managing and mentoring junior staff.
- Degree Environmental Sciences, Toxicology or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with a combination of technical, supervisory, project management experience in human and/or environmental risk assessment.
- Demonstrated project management skills (Tracking budgets and meeting schedules).
- Preference to be registered or eligible for registration with a Professional Association or Registered Professional whose profession is regulated by a regulatory body.
- Previous consulting experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Candidate must have prior pertinent experience working collaboratively and co-operatively with team members.
- Proactive approach in technical service delivery, and ability to lead teams, including high-level communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth with a strong initiative, motivation and drive toward long-term success.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks.
