Hydraulics Technician

Summary
The Hydraulics Technician performs work in the repair and manufacturing of hydraulic cylinders while meeting the customer requirements and any applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. This position will obtain information such as job instructions from company documentation, the “traveller”, and will ensure that all work is complying with environmental, quality, health, and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
- Assemble manufactured hydraulic cylinders as per drawings supplied. Assemble repaired hydraulic cylinders as per the repair process
- Disassemble, clean and inspect hydraulic cylinders and identify the nature and cause of defects or malfunctions with the use of appropriate measuring tools
- Pressure test hydraulic cylinders
- Read and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, materials for the job and setup requirements
- Communicate with the supervisors, coordinators, and other personnel for assignments and to resolve quality issues
- Ensure compliance with all quality, environmental, and health and safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Prepare technical reports supporting root cause determination
- Meet production schedules and timelines to deliver products on schedule
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Additional duties may be assigned if required.
Skills and Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma, GED or equivalent required
- Certification such as mechanics, millwright, preferred
- Hydraulics experience in a manufacturing or repair environment preferred
- Advanced knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings and specifications in support of quality requirements
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales
- Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment required to do the job
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to read and write English
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Must be adaptable to changing work environment and competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
Preferred qualifications include relevant certifications such as Hydraulic Technician certification or equivalent training. A background in mechanical or industrial maintenance is highly valued.
