The Opportunity
Global Raymac is seeking a Junior to Intermediate Survey Crew Chief to support our growing operations in the Edmonton, AB area with experience in Oil & Gas, Pipeline Integrity, and/or Pipeline Construction surveys.
Key Responsibilities

Complete accountability and oversight for a field survey work as assigned

Autonomous station and equipment Set Up
-
Complete field, and on site, client communication and management accountability
-
Full and autonomous field stakeout set up (level and control networks etc.)

Full accountability and ability, to support, direct and assess Location Management and Survey Standards
-
Decision making authority for supply and equipment maintenance and company asset repair and maintenance
-
Equipment maintenance, control, repair and inventory accountability
-
Complete interpretation of, and execution of, Project Manager field direction
-
Data collection and field measurement downloading & accuracy
-
Advanced calculation skills and angle/ distance measurement
-
Time sheet entry & expense oversight for self and survey assistants
-
Ensure the completion of Field Hazard documentation and assessment
-
Locate and verify pipeline alignments, facilities, valves, and associated infrastructure
-
Perform GPS, GNSS, total station, and laser scanning surveys
-
Establish and maintain survey control points and benchmarks
-
Collect accurate field measurements for integrity assessment and maintenance projects
-
Support excavation, anomaly investigation, and repair activities by providing precise location data
Pipeline Integrity Support
-
Verify pipeline locations for inline inspection (ILI) digs and integrity excavations.

Survey areas affected by erosion, geohazards, subsidence, and environmental concerns.
-
Assist in monitoring pipeline movement and ground stability.
-
Document pipeline crossings, encroachments, and right-of-way conditions.
-
Support risk assessment and asset management programs with spatial data.
Compliance & Safety
-
Adhere to company safety policies and industry regulations.
-
Ensure survey activities comply with land-use permits, regulatory requirements, and right-of-way agreements.

Lead hazard assessments and field safety meetings.
-
Maintain accurate survey records and documentation for audits and regulatory inspections.
Qualifications & Competencies
-
1-5 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief or similar field-based geomatics role (Pipeline and/or Oil & Gas experience).
-
Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or equivalent experience.
-
Proficiency with Trimble GNSS equipment and software.
-
Experience with laser scanning, drones, and line locating considered an asset.

Strong spatial recognition, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.

Comfortable working in all weather conditions and all seasons.

Willingness to work away from home for extended periods when required.

Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate, legible field notes.

Ability to work cooperatively on a team, make critical field decisions, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
