Maintenance Technician
Location: London, Aylmer & Tillsonburg, Ontario
About the Position
We are a growing property management and development company managing multiple apartment buildings throughout Aylmer and Tillsonburg, with our head office located in London, Ontario. Our portfolio continues to expand, with additional residential developments underway and planned throughout Southwestern Ontario.
We are currently looking for a dependable, experienced, and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team.
Position Summary
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently, and is comfortable handling a wide variety of apartment and building maintenance.
We are looking for someone who is particularly confident with drywall repairs and finishing, along with general plumbing, electrical, painting, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
No two days are the same. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, dependable, and able to identify and address maintenance issues without needing constant direction.
Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance requests in occupied apartments and common areas.
- Perform drywall repairs, including patching holes, replacing damaged drywall, taping, mudding, sanding, and preparing surfaces for paint.
- Complete painting, touch-ups, caulking, trim repairs, and other finishing work.
- Troubleshoot and complete basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, and fixture replacements.
- Perform basic electrical repairs and replace light fixtures, switches, receptacles, and other components within the scope of the position.
- Complete general handyman repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the properties.
- Assist with unit turnovers, including drywall repairs, painting, fixture replacements, minor renovations, and preparing apartments for new tenants.
- Regularly inspect properties and identify repairs or improvements before they become larger issues.
- Coordinate maintenance with Building Managers and communicate professionally with tenants when entering occupied suites.
- Plan and organize a weekly schedule across multiple properties.
- Order and maintain an appropriate inventory of maintenance supplies and materials.
- Complete work orders, maintenance logs, and required paperwork accurately.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, cleanly, and professionally.
- Coordinate with outside trades when repairs require a licensed contractor.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in apartment, residential, construction, renovation, or property maintenance is strongly preferred.
- Strong drywall repair and finishing skills are required.
- Must be comfortable with patching, taping, mudding, sanding, and preparing drywall repairs for paint.
- Experience with painting and general finishing work.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Strong general handyman and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to assess a repair and determine the best way to complete it.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Dependable, professional, and respectful when working in tenants' homes.
- Physically capable of lifting, climbing ladders, and performing manual labour.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Must supply own basic hand tools.
