We are a family managed disability services contract holder. The position is home care with a 18 year old male youth.
Job description
This position is for a support worker for total care and support for a 18-year-old male youth. This position requires you to fully and completely support this youth in every aspect of their day as they are not able to independently move, dress, feed, toilet, or do any daily care. The youth is nonspeaking and fully dependent on caregivers in all aspects of life.
What you need experience and education in:
- intellectual and developmental disability
- intractable seizure disorders and appropriate protocols
- safe lift and transfers
- g-tube changes and use
- medication administration
- a variety of mobility and daily living equipment/tasks, including, but not limited to wheelchair use, commode use, lifts and transfers, bed sore prevention, bed safety, (gaps, rail securing, seizure safety protocol etc.)
- knowledge of good diet for soft and minced, and thickened fluids and ability to assess when oral feeding is not safe and needs g-tube route
- This is a physically demanding position requiring proven knowledge and education about safe lifts and transfers.
- There can be medical emergencies (kneecap displacement, prolonged seizures, choking hazard / dysphagia)

Shifts Available:
Weekday evenings: 5pm-9pm
Weekend daytime: 8am-5pm
Weekend evenings: 5pm-9pm
Opportunities for extra shifts can arise.
Requirements
- At least 2 years experience in the field
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
Benefits/Compensation
$25.04 hour, commensurate with experience.
*Licensed nurses' wages are higher as long as you are registered with your college.

The employment location is in Spruce Grove, Alberta.
