Darwynn is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to assist the Company with creating and managing financial records and supporting the assessment of the Company fiscal operations. The Accounting Manager will report directly to our CFO.
This role is a hybrid work arrangement based out of either our South Surrey, BC or Scarborough, ON facilities. Darwynn is a start-up company so the ideal candidate would be comfortable in a dynamic environment, working collaboratively across the business and leading in the implementation of new processes and policies.
About the role:
Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting functions.
· Support in the development of processes & procedures allowing for timely and accurate financial information as the Company continues to scale.
· Responsible for the monthly financial close process to include preparation of month end financial statements including balance sheet, income statements, statement of cash flows, board reporting, Key Performance Indicators and supporting in the preparation of the Management, Discussion and Analysis.
· Perform monthly and periodic activities, including reviewing month-end journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis/commentary.
· Preparing consolidated financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis on a deadline-driven basis.
· Overseeing the financial accounting operations including transaction-processing operations (including accounts receivable and accounts payable).
· Ensure proper monthly revenue reporting through daily review and reconciliation of sales entries and receipts.
· Designing end-to-end standard operating and detailed review procedures to ensure extremely high-quality accounting records are prepared and maintained while minimizing risks of material misstatements.
· Identifying risks of material misstatement in existing processes, including maintaining accounting policies and a Risk and Control Matrix.
· Collaborate in Budget and forecasting activities.
· Identifying and execute on opportunities to drive efficiency, accuracy, and impact across all aspects of the accounting and financial transacting aspects of the Company.
· Ensure compliance of required filings with WorkSafeBC, Canada Revenue Agency, and provincial Ministry of Finance
· Liaising with cross-departmental stakeholders in all projects and matters as they relate to finance, accounting, internal control, or cash / billing.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (finance, accounting, business);
· CPA designation;
· Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role;
· Proven track record of managing financial operations and leading financial strategies in a dynamic organization
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
· Proficiency in Quickbooks and intermediate / advanced skills in Excel and other financial analysis tools.
