Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Bid Management: Source, review, and target profitable HVAC projects across commercial, industrial, and
residential sectors.
- Takeoffs & Estimating: Analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to prepare precise material, labor,
and time cost estimates.
- Site Walk-Throughs: Attend site meetings to define project scope and installation requirements.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Procurement: Solicit and review quotes to ensure scope alignment and
cost-effective pricing.
- Proposal Delivery: Assemble detailed, organized bid submissions for internal review and client
presentations.
Project Management & Execution
- Project Ownership: Take full accountability for awarded projects from handoff through to final close-out
and deficiency tracking.
- Scheduling & Workforce Planning: Develop project schedules, work plans, and manpower loading in
coordination with field supervisors.
- Financial Management: Monitor project costs, track changes, handle progress billings, and process change
orders.
- Field Support: Provide continuous technical support to field crews regarding drawings, HVAC/sheet
metal/refrigeration codes, and scope clarifications.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify site issues or scope gaps and implement practical, solutions-focused
fixes.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all installations meet the Ontario Building Code (OBC), relevant
HVAC/mechanical codes, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of HVAC estimating experience in commercial or residential construction with
combined project management experience is highly valued.
- Trade Background: A 313A (Refrigeration) or 308A (Sheet Metal) License, or a strong hands-on background in
the HVAC trade is a major asset.
