Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator/Project Manager to lead construction project estimations and oversee project execution from inception to completion. We are also looking for a junior estimator with a background in construction or education from BCIT to train under a senior manager.
Duties
- Prepare precise and comprehensive construction estimates using industry-standard software such as Explorer, plan swift and paydirt
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and scope adjustments that benefit both parties while maintaining project profitability.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating schedules, resources, and budgets to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Develop detailed project plans, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure successful project completion within scope and budget.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents thoroughly to identify potential issues or cost-saving opportunities early in the process.
- Lead bidding processes by soliciting competitive quotes, analyzing proposals, and selecting optimal subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment on goals, expectations, and deliverables.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating combined with project management responsibilities within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Explorer and paydirt
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials pricing, and industry standards for accurate cost assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Construction experience that provides a solid understanding of site operations, safety protocols, and project coordination.
- Familiarity with technical documentation including drawings, specifications, and contract language.
- Education with a civil or landscape training
