Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, and needs.
- Track and monitor driver locations and shipment progress using GPS and dispatch software.
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and vendors regarding delivery schedules, delays, or changes.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel use, repairs, and other logistics data.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Handle emergency calls, breakdowns, or delivery issues efficiently.
- Provide drivers with route, schedule, and load instructions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of road conditions, traffic patterns, and weather impacts.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff, customer service representatives, and other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or transportation is a plus.
- Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar logistics role.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and freight logistics.
- Proficiency in dispatching software and GPS tracking systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends, if require
- Experience with transportation management systems (Fleet Manager)
- Bilingual communication skills are an asset.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) knowledge or background is a plus.
