The Materials Lead is responsible for supporting and directing the Materials team, assisting in assembling job materials, and supporting a high level of accuracy in material delivery and inventory data. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a seamless flow of parts and supplies to our core assembly areas.

Key Responsibilities
Department Coordination
- Provides direction, instruction, and assistance to Material Handlers, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in material handling tasks.
- Trains new personnel in material handling, data entry, and related skills.
- Assists the Supervisor with scheduling staff and organizing material movements.
- Ensures time entries for Material Handlers are correct.
- Serves as the single point of contact for movement of parts between Production and Parts & Service.
- Conducts cycle counts and participates in the inventory process.
- Attends monthly safety review meetings and implements any new processes or guidelines within the team.
- Coordinates with other department Leads to facilitate resource reallocation and ensure optimal staffing levels for production efficiency.
- Participates in morning toolbox meeting and assigns tasks to Material handlers
- Completes daily approval of hours in Epicor, and approves and maintains records for time off requests
Job Materials Assembly
- Picks and assembles materials/parts for specific job orders and delivers them to the assembly process.
- Issues materials to the appropriate job, labels large components, and ensures timely delivery to production.
- Returns surplus materials to the storage area to maintain inventory integrity.
Administrative Functions
- Records parts issued to jobs, material returns, and transfers to maintain accurate internal record-keeping for job-costing and inventory systems.
- Engages in special projects or initiatives as assigned by management.
Equipment Operation
- Operates equipment such as hand trucks, or other necessary tools to load, unload, transport, and store goods safely and efficiently.
Leadership
- Conducts orientation, training, and mentoring for new Material Handlers.
- Addresses underperforming team members, quality concerns, safety compliance, and workplace attitudes with support from Supervisor and Human Resources.
- Develops training and skill expansion plans for direct reports, promoting career growth and cross-functional capabilities.
- Demonstrates continuous learning in HR practices, leadership development, production updates, and communication strategies.
- Develops knowledge of production delivery methods, process improvement methodologies, project management systems, scheduling, manpower management, and cost control.
- Develops knowledge of various production equipment, techniques, material handling equipment, and manufacturers’ products.
- Upholds corporate values and standards, demonstrating professionalism and reinforcing a positive workplace culture in all interactions.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma (Grade 12) required.
Experience
- 3-5 years previous experience in materials management within a warehouse or parts administration role.
- Previous experience with Epicor, or other ERP system is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control practices.

Pay: $24.56-$27.10 per hour
