Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for patient care and orthodontic procedures, with a comprehensive understanding of dental assisting, orthodontics, and dental technology. As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting orthodontists by preparing patients, managing clinical tasks, and ensuring smooth practice operations. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional orthodontic treatments while fostering a welcoming environment for patients of all ages.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures by taking and developing dental radiographs, and ensuring comfort throughout appointments.
- Assist orthodontists during examinations, adjustments, and appliance placements with precision and professionalism.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and proper oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric and adult patients.
- Maintain sterilization protocols and ensure all dental instruments and equipment are properly sanitized and organized.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, confirming patient visits, and managing insurance documentation.
- Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) technology for appliance fabrication or adjustments when applicable.
Experience
- Prior experience in orthodontics is highly preferred; familiarity with orthodontic procedures is essential.
- Knowledge of dental terminology relevant to dental and orthodontic treatments.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is advantageous for creating a comfortable environment for young patients.
- Strong understanding of dental assisting practices, including sterilization techniques and clinical support functions.
- Previous exposure to CAD technology or digital imaging tools used in appliance design or adjustments is a plus.
- Certification in dental assisting from an accredited program is required; orthodontic mocule required
