The Ministry of Environment, Environmental Protection Branch, is seeking a multi-talented individual with a strong engineering and/or science background to deliver results-based environmental protection programs throughout the province of Saskatchewan.

As an Environmental Protection Officer in the Environmental Protection Branch, you will be responsible for the administration of regulatory programs, ensuring compliance with provincial regulations, completing compliance inspections, assisting in policy and legislation development, and resolving complex environmental and public health issues related to the province's ongoing development of mining, industrial, commercial, air quality, solid waste management, and impacted sites programs.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of provincial environmental legislation. The candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and awareness of environmental and public safety issues associated with municipal, industrial and commercial operations including air, hazardous substances, and waste dangerous goods. Candidates will have demonstrated knowledge of environmental monitoring and reporting at municipal, industrial or commercial operations. The candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of research methods and techniques applicable to developing policies, strategies and/or program evaluation.

The candidate will have the ability to clearly and accurately discuss complex environmental issues, policies and procedures to diverse groups (including peers) at a level appropriate to the audience and concisely draft and compose written documents. The candidate will have the ability to educate, facilitate, and persuade others to achieve consensus or resolve conflict in highly-polarized situations.

Typically, the competencies required for this position can be achieved through a degree in engineering or science combined with related environmental work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You will have demonstrated ability to adhere to the values of the Saskatchewan Public Service.

The headquarters for this position will be in Saskatoon or Prince Albert. Travel to remote locations of the province and working flexible hours are required of this position.
