Our Maple location is presently recruiting for a Shipper/Receiver Person to join our dynamic team of customer minded professionals. If you qualify for this position, we will be happy to hear from you.
SUMMARY
Shippers/Receivers ship, receive and record the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and stock to and from the Mid-Ontario Business site while working safely and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment.
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipment.
- Pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping.
- Perform tasks in multi-temperature environments.
- Adhere to shipping and receiving policies/procedures, and regulatory compliance procedures.
- Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as require.
- Prepare documents, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials through Elite Extra
- Complete daily shipping and receiving logs.
- May determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- May contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications, keeping inventory control informed.
- Order and store shipping supplies to maintain stock inventory.
- Maintain shipping and receiving area, must be clean and clear at the end of the shift.
- Deliver or route materials to other departments using material handling devices, may involve traveling to customer sites using company provided vehicles.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required to successfully perform the job.
Education and/or experience
- 3-5 years relevant experience. Truck or car dealership experience an assed. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Computer experience in Excel, Word and Windows based software.
- GED or ACE
Language Skills
- High standard of fluency in English for both oral and written correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to apply basic mathematical skills.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Forklift License
- Valid Class G driver’s license
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to sit, walk, stoop, lift and bend, lift up to 50 lbs..
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The noise level in the work environment is minor.
