Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice / Small Engine Technician to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in small engine repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in mechanical work, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work with various tools and equipment. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in a supportive environment, with potential for growth into a skilled mechanic.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced technicians in diagnosing and repairing small engines and related equipment
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, spark plug replacements, and filter replacements
- Use hand tools, power tools, and schematics to disassemble and reassemble engines and components
- Conduct inspections to identify mechanical issues or electrical problems
- Support the testing of repaired equipment to ensure proper operation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety standards
- Learn about welding, electrical systems, and automotive repair as part of skill development
- Assist with heavy lifting of engine parts and equipment as needed
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients when required
Requirements
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience with automotive repair or similar fields is preferred
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, schematics, and basic electrical concepts is a plus
- Experience with welding or electrical systems is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills in small engine repair and maintenance
- Good communication skills and a customer-oriented attitude
- Prior mechanic experience or familiarity with Caterpillar equipment is advantageous but not required
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
