Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Child Development Worker to support the growth and development of children for the Alpha Kidz Summer Program that is running from July 6-August 14 . The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. This role involves collaborating with children, families, and team members to promote positive developmental outcomes, especially for children with diverse needs or disabilities. The Child Development Worker will contribute to creating an inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning, creativity, and social-emotional growth. The Child Development worker reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
1. Provide direct programming to children/youth registered in the program.
a) Provide activities and ensure necessary supplies and equipment for Alpha Kidz are available and in good working order and assist with other programs and special events when required.
b) Facilitate links to resources offered by the community and throughout the City.
c) Encourage, promote and enable children/youth to make positive changes in their lives.
d) Teach and/or Mentor children/youth about healthy and unhealthy age appropriate relationships with a strong emphasis on positive and negative influences and boundaries.
2. Ensure appropriate files are updated and paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
a) Ensure appropriate waivers and contracts are completed by participants and parents/guardians.
b) Document attendance and demographic information, observations outlining special concerns, issues dealt with and other pertinent information.
c) Complete and submit monthly reports.
d) Participate fully in the Outcome Measures evaluation process.
3. Implement relevant policies of the organization.
a) Responsible for understanding the mandate and policies of the organization including the commitments and requirements of funders as it applies to their position.
b) Read and sign the Personnel Policy and Oath of Confidentiality.
c) Complete and submit monthly time sheets.
d) Implement all recommendations and/or directions of the Executive Director.
e) Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children is an asset
- Classroom experience demonstrating effective teaching or caregiving is desirable
- Strong communication skills essential for engaging with children, families, and team members
- Demonstrated organizational skills, time management, leadership qualities, and writing abilities suitable for managing multiple responsibilities effectively
Pay: $15.00 per hour
