THE LOCATION:
Corbrook has learning centres in North York and Scarborough, as well as an Executive Office. This position will be required to work at the North York & Scarborough locations and off-site outreach on occasion. Hybrid opportunities are offered per performance.
THE POSITION:
The Employment Specialist will work as part of a team to provide participants in Corbrook’s employment support programs with employment options, improve their employment skills, and provide other employment-related supports. You will also work directly with employers to support your caseload and achieve required program outcomes. Coordinating, hosting, and attending events are part of the range of services provided to assist with workload based on priorities. The Employment Specialist plays a key role in providing employment-focused solutions to the assigned caseload of job seekers across the GTA, assisting participants to achieve their goals of attaining and retaining meaningful paid employment. The Employment Specialist also develops partnerships with employers to identify suitable employment opportunities and assists with key duties, including maintaining accurate files in data reporting systems. You will also have individualized targets to meet for your caseload’s success, which contribute to the entire department’s collective ability to meet contractual obligations with the program’s funder.
OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Employment Specialist reports to the Regional Employment Manager. This position is a full-time role that starts with a contract for one year, with an opportunity to obtain permanency.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employment Coaching
· Provide employment counselling and ongoing support to the caseload in employment-related areas to achieve their employment goals.
· Provides effective job search and search readiness support services to clients on relevant topics such as developing professional resumes, job search strategies, interview preparation, credential assessment, language support, and other areas to help them achieve successful outcomes.
· Guides and supports clients with completing employment applications, education (Better Jobs Ontario) and/or training opportunities.
· Conducts timely follow-ups with job seekers throughout their job search efforts and provides repeat, one-on-one employment counselling sessions and supports as needed to review goals, address barriers, and ensure job seekers are making progress towards goals, including facilitating community-based referrals when needed.
· Assesses and facilitates wraparound and intervention resources required to help job seekers address and overcome barriers that may prevent them from achieving successful employment outcomes.
· Support job seekers to acquire a clear understanding of industry perspective and other information about the job opportunities to which they are applying.
· Facilitates in-person and virtual workshops for job seekers on a variety of relevant employment topics.
· Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Case Management
· Constantly monitor, track, and document caseload to achieve individual targets based on priorities.
· Conduct intakes and complete individualized employment needs assessments for clients to establish their eligibility for services and pre-employment needs.
· Collect, organize, and analyze client information through completed employment needs assessments and other mechanisms to appraise clients’ interests, aptitudes, and abilities to create employment action plans that end in successful outcomes.
· Enters and maintains thorough written documentation in online data reporting systems, ensuring that caseload files are up to date and ready for file audits.
· Determine client eligibility for employment-related reimbursement supports, administer eligible supports, and ensure proper documentation is on file to support expenditures.
· Utilize digital systems and technologies provided by Corbrook to support clients in achieving their employment goals.
· Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Job Development
· Conducts job search activities with clients, including cold-calling employers and other strategies to support them in achieving successful outcomes.
· Conduct desk-based or in-person outreach to develop relationships with employers in a variety of industries to promote Corbrook’s services and create job leads for active clients in the caseload.
· Negotiates and administers placement, incentive, and other agreements with employers when applicable.
· Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Job Placement, and Retention Support
· Place clients in meaningful employment opportunities by matching them with job opportunities created through effective employer relationships as well as advertised job vacancies suitable for their experience, skills, and interests.
· Administers and monitors on-the-job training plans and conducts appropriate follow-ups and interventions with employers when needed to ensure that all expectations are met.
· Supports clients and employers to mediate issues as needed.
· Collaborates with fellow team members on topics such as job development, employment retention, strategies, and best practices that help lead clients to successful outcomes.
· Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in human services or a related field relevant to the position’s duties is highly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
· A minimum of two years of experience in job coaching, employment counselling, job development, outreach, recruitment, or other directly transferable experience related to the position’s responsibilities is required.
· Must be willing to work on-site from the office on a full-time basis.
· A driver’s license with access to one's own vehicle is required.
· Exceptional relationship-building skills with a proven ability to develop rapport with people.
· Proven track record in a result-driven environment with experience meeting targets.
· Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate information are required. Fluency in a second language is considered an asset.
· Experience in vocational counselling, managing client caseloads, familiarity with Employment Ontario-funded programming, community outreach, and employer relationship building is considered a strong asset.
· High emotional intelligence, demonstrating patience, empathy and connectivity when working with clients of various experiences, needs, and abilities.
· A professional and courteous approach to client service with a high level of respect for the diversity of the people served.
· Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to uphold the organization’s service standards, policies, and core values.
· High ethics and confidentiality standards with proven experience maintaining sensitive information and exhibiting tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask to meet deadlines and achieve targets and objectives.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365 applications, including MS Teams and SharePoint. Must possess the aptitude and willingness to learn and work with new online systems and technologies.
· Flexibility to occasionally work outside regular business hours when required to ensure the team meets all objectives, and all expectations and needs are met on your end.
· Strong work ethic with the ability to multitask while maintaining a positive and productive attitude.
· Demonstrate ability to remain flexibly resilient, adapting quickly to changing priorities while maintaining trust and positive work relationships.
· Organized, ability to multitask and deal effectively with stress.
ASSETS THAT STAND OUT:
· CVRP and RRP Certifications are an asset.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or evenings as per program, operational or participant need.
· Driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
· Experience in training, supervising, and supporting volunteers.
· Certification in CPR/First Aid and Safe Management/CPI crisis intervention training is an asset; training will be provided by the company if you are accepted as a candidate.

Pay: $50,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
