Overview: We are seeking a skilled and passionate host to join our team at a vibrant Coastal Mediterranean restaurant in Toronto. As a host at Abrielle, you are responsible for supporting the front of house team in all areas of service flow & seating guests. You are also an essential liaison between the guests & service team, facilitating the smooth operation and communication between them from behind the bar.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
Greet guests in a warm and genuine way.
Manage the reservation system and waitlist.
Know all table numbers and maintain an awareness of server sections.
Seat guests in a timely manner and stay in communication with waiting parties.
Coordinate with supervisor or manager on duty to ensure even spread in server sections and maximize seating abilities.
Maintain a clean and organized host area to ensure positive first impressions.
Communicate any unique or special reservations to the supervisor or manager on duty as necessary.
Answer incoming phone calls and address guest questions. Direct inquiries appropriately.
Assist guests with any accessibility needs as necessary.
Maintain the cleanliness of the washrooms by completing checks regularly throughout the shift.
Build relationships with regular guests.
Liaise with regular business partners.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Skills/Qualifications
- At least 1 year of Hosting experience
- Knowledge of Italian cuisine and wine an asset
- Experience working with Open Table
- High attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with guests and colleagues
- Flexible availability - evenings & weekends
- Smart Serve Certification
