Sharbot Lake Family Health Team
The Sharbot Lake Family Health Team (SLFHT) is excited to recruit a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our growing team. This is a newly created position and represents an exciting opportunity to help expand services and improve access to care for patients in our rural community.
Working collaboratively with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals, the RPN will support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred primary care services while promoting health, preventing illness, and improving patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, vital signs, height and weight measurements, vision screening, electrocardiograms (ECGs), and other assessments within the RPN scope of practice
- Administer immunizations, injections, and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and follow-up care as required
- Participate in health promotion initiatives and preventative care programs offered through the Family Health Team
Care Coordination and Communication
- Triage patient inquiries and direct concerns appropriately
- Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients as directed
- Coordinate and support follow-up activities to ensure continuity of care
- Work collaboratively with internal team members and external health care providers to support patient care
Clinic Operations
- Ensure examination and treatment rooms are appropriately stocked and maintained
- Support infection prevention and control practices, including sterilization and cleaning procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Participate in quality improvement activities and support data collection as required
Qualifications
Required
- Diploma in Practical Nursing from an accredited college
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Preferred
- One to three years of nursing experience in primary care or a related setting
- Experience with phlebotomy, immunizations, injections, ECGs, and chronic disease management
- Experience using electronic medical record systems

Position Details
Position Title: Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
Status: Full-Time Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, generally Monday to Friday between hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Salary: $28.56 per hour ($55,686 annually)
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package valued at 22.5% of salary
