Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time ECE – Nap Time Support to join our early childhood education team. This role provides essential support during nap times for young children in a nurturing and safe environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, especially in early childhood settings, and possess the skills necessary to promote a calm and comfortable atmosphere during rest periods. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development and well-being of young learners in a supportive educational environment.
Work Hours
This is a part-time position scheduled Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM (3 hours per day).
Responsibilities
- Supervise children during nap time, ensuring a quiet, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Assist with setting up nap areas, including bedding and calming materials.
- Monitor children throughout their rest period, responding appropriately to individual needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of nap areas before and after use.
- Support classroom routines and assist with other age-appropriate activities as needed.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding children's comfort and behavior during nap time.
- Follow all safety guidelines and policies related to childcare and early childhood education.
Skills
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings.
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles, including behavior management and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with special education needs, including working with children with autism or disabilities.
- Ability to implement curriculum support such as literacy education, math activities, or Montessori methods when appropriate.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and engage positively with children.
- Experience with lesson planning, curriculum development, or classroom experience is a plus.
- Compassionate approach to childcare, demonstrating patience and understanding of childhood behaviors.
- Knowledge of toddler care, preschool activities, and working with children who have diverse needs is desirable. This role is vital in supporting our early childhood programs by ensuring children have a restful and secure environment during nap times while fostering their overall development through caring supervision and effective communication.
Requirements
- Valid a basic ECE (Early Childhood Educator) Certificate in British Columbia
- Clear Criminal Record Check (CRC) eligible under BC Child Care Licensing
- Valid Child Care First Aid Certificate
- Previous experience working with infants or toddlers is an asset
- Ability to support a calm and restful nap time environment
- Gentle, patient, and responsive approach to children
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable and punctual for a consistent weekday schedule
- Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and work at child-level (floor sitting, bending, etc.)
