Job Overview
A Transportation Sales Representative secures freight contracts, negotiates rates, and manages relationships with shippers and carriers. They act as the vital link between a company's logistical capacity and the transportation needs of businesses, tracking shipments and ensuring cost-effective, timely deliveries.

Responsibilities
- Client & Business Development - Lead Generation: Source and contact potential shippers (manufacturers, wholesalers, and retail companies) to pitch transportation and logistics services.
- Account Management: Nurture relationships with existing clients to drive repeat business, upsell services, and secure long-term contracts.
- Market Analysis: Keep tabs on competitor activities, seasonal movements, and volatile freight market rates to provide accurate, competitive quotes.
- Capacity Sourcing & Negotiation (For Carrier Sales) - Carrier Sourcing: Identify, vet, and set up qualified motor carriers to ensure they are fully compliant and safe to haul goods.
- Rate Negotiation: Negotiate pricing with both customers and carriers to ensure weekly margin goals and load volume counts are met.
- Capacity Securing: Ensure there is always reliable, available trucking capacity to fulfill customer orders.
- Operations & Logistics Coordination - Shipment Tracking: Accurately log shipments into a Transportation Management System (TMS), monitor progress via GPS or check-calls, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate closely with dispatch, logistics, and operations teams to relay client requirements and troubleshoot any unexpected disruptions (e.g. transit delays, breakdowns).
- Billing & Support: Coordinate with internal administration to finalize paperwork for billing and resolve any post-delivery service issue
- Manage Fortune 500 Client base and mid size companies with Shipping requirements.
- Handle dispatching, bookings, tracking, tracing and scheduling of shipments.
- Prepare customer bids, price quotes and tenders for new shipping lanes.
- Enter and process and validate of incoming customer orders for assigned clients.
- Contact potential & active clients for potential new business.
- Handle and maintain daily contact with active and quoted customers.
- Negotiate transportation and Logistics agreements for active customers.
- Utilize Maximizer, Quickbooks, UFOS and excel to track operations and segmentation of
- Logistics Services.
- Understand transportation procedures and handle claims when necessary
- Manage daily summary log reports of all calls and appointments completed
Pay: Up to $45,000.00 per year
